Another Day Of Life..
PYMB Pit Percussion' 12
Like what the picture says - "19 people, 3 CCAs, 1 section - PYMB Pit Percussion'12 (:"
It's
been 5 months since the last display band comp. I really cannot imagine
i as a trombonist, playing mallet & auxiliary instruments to
help the Pit Percussion. But guess what? I made it.
During
the duration from Jan to Apr, i go through thick and thin with 19
people. At first, i was not very confident of helping this 19 people.
But Mr Poh seems to trust me that i can get the job done. Well, in
fact.. i had to start from scratch and learn the mallet and auxiliary
instruments with all of the 19 members, with the help of Siew Teng,
Eelim, Awal of course. I'm really proud of them. It wasn't a easy to
journey for all of us. During the first 1.5 months, we had lots of
conflicts. Many members are unhappy towards each other. It was really
heart-wrenching. But during the band camp, somehow when we are doing
circle time - a session for all of us to talk and share things, it
really bring them closer. We start to do cheers, play games together and
even crack horny jokes together. Well, good times. (:
I'm
really happy that despite the various CCA background that some of the
members were from, they managed to put their heart, soul and time to
learn their pieces. At first, they do complain that it's difficult but
they can't do it, but somehow they just keep practicing and practicing.
I'm really very touched by that. During the duration of helping this
section, i also manged to widen my horizons about the stereotyping of
Pit Percussion. They really wasn't lazy at all. They also put in as much
time and effort as the main band and colorguards. I'm really very proud
to be able to mentor and conduct this section during the practices.
They indeed are my pride and joy.
Even though we
clinched a silver, but we all are very satisfied with the result. From
nearing to go assessment band, we bounced back to the display band
category. The band and the alumni go all out to make 'Quidam, Cirque Du
Soleil' happened. & it did. The point is that for 4 months, i
managed to bring 19 people together and they made me feel very at home.
The care for one another, the laughter that we all had, the hardship
that we all go through. Now, it all become memories. :')
Thank You, PYMB Pit Percussion'12.
